ABOUT

Ken Tiessen has studied with painters Dan McCaw and Richard Schmid, in addition to a BFA on Scholarship at Art Center College of Design, Pasadena.  His blending of Realistic Imagery and Impressionist color is inspired by great artists such as John Singer Sargent, Joaquin Sorolla, Nicolai Fechin, and Winslow Homer.

He travels West to paint plein-air landscape in Oil and Pastel, and paints in his downtown Peoria Studio for many private and public collections.

“In the video, “Why Beauty Matters”  the philosopher Roger Scruton proposes that Beauty is an essential component for the soul and a means to touch God.  Beauty is at the heart of my creative efforts, and always brings a measure of hope, joy, and peace”.
